Meade High School today announced that it has hired Mike Francis as its head football coach for the 2019-2020 school year.
Coach Francis has coached in Anne Arundel County for three decades, and has been instrumental in the success of every program with which he has worked. In his most recent tenure as basketball coach at Old Mill and North County High School, Coach Francis amassed five county championships and three region titles. He was recognized as coach of the year on four occasions.
Prior to coaching basketball at Old Mill, Coach Francis – a Meade High School graduate – played for and coached under legendary football coach Chuck Markiewicz. As an assistant coach, he helped Markiewicz guide North County High School to the 1994 state championship.
“We are very excited that Coach Francis will be returning to our Mustang family and continuing his tremendous coaching career here at Meade High School,” Principal John Yore said. “As an alum, we know Coach Francis will continue the strong traditions of class, character, and pride that he and his family have experienced in our Meade community.”
